Introduction
DR7915 is a WiFi6 Mini PCIe Module 2T2R based on Mediatek MT7915DAN which is a WiFi Mini PCIe single chip which supports 1800 (573+1201) Mbps PHY rate with PCIe2.1. It fully complies with IEEE 802.11ax/ac and IEEE 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n standards, offering feature-rich wireless connectivity at high standards, and delivering reliable, cost-effective throughput from an extended distance.
DR7915-NPD is 2 RF outputs for 2.4GHz, the other 2 RF outputs for 5GHz, and we combine 1x2.4GHz and 1x5GHz to be 1 antenna outputs and dual bands. So there are 2 antennas RF outputs with dual bands. In Linux “ifconfig” command, you can see two radios, ra0 and rai0, means you can have two radios in the meantime and dual bands dual concurrents with HW AP mode that can serve for 100+ concurrent clients connected at same time.
Optimized RF architecture and base band algorithms provide superb performance and low power consumption. Intelligent MAC design deploys a high efficient offload engine and hardware data processing accelerators which completely offloads Wi-Fi task of the host processor. MT7915DAN is designed to support standard based features in the areas of security, quality of service and international regulations, giving end users the greatest performance any time and in any circumstance.
MT7915DAN is designed to support high data throughput over WiFi. The host interface PCIe are integrated to provide stable bandwidth between the host platform and MT7915DAN.
Deep sleep mode:
Multiple power domains are implement on chip. In deep sleep mode, the PMU could be configured in a low power state to save the power consumption.
Two CPU systems: There are both 32-bits RISC MCU subsystem. The CPU has its local memory. There are several options of clock frequency to provide the optimal performance with the best power consumption. The 32-bit RISC MCU is used to do clocck control, power management, and host interface configuration. PDMA (packet DMA) engines are integrated to support on-the-fly data buffer management.
MT7915AN had the WiFi MAC and BBP subsystem and use with MT7975DN together, which provide the best-in-class radio and low power performance. And the Wi-Fi MAC and BBP subsystem and use with MT7975DN together, which provide the best-in-class radio and low power performance.
With the advent of 802.11ax/ac, multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) is defined. MT7915DAN supports MU-MIMO with different configurations.

DR7915 can work on OpenWrt 21.02 version OS directly, no need to install the driver to support this MTK chipset.
Please check if you are able to itegrate drivers in to your system. Please check with below link to download 11ax driver.
http://wifi5.eu/dls/524wifi/WiFi6-MT7915-modules/
Application
Let's have a look at the screenshots by using Wallys #DR4019 router board plus DR7915 DBDC Wlan module combo.
When the DR7915 is inserted into the DR40X9 board, there are 4 radios that can work at the same time, and it can be used as a soft router
As you can see on pictures attached, by using this combo, there will be 4 radios working at the same time, and you can configure each radio into AP or STA mode as you wish.
DR7915 can work on OpenWrt 21.02 version OS directly, no need to install the driver to support this MTK chipset.
We guess it would be a smart option as well to select #DR7915 for applications which require Multi-radios,soft router, Mesh, bonding etc...

Work well with DEBIAN 12 Review by Pavel
Quality Delivery time Price Value They worked pretty much out of the box under OpenWrt and now we would like
to test them with Debian 12
I tried latest Debian (12.0) which uses Linux kernel 6.1.0 and the mt9615e driver works
It detects the DR7915 card and creates 2 wlan interfaces.
Same as MT7916 driver on x86 PC platform, the Kernel 5.18 already support, such as Ubuntu 22.10 distribution (Kernel 5.19).

can work well with latest OpenWRT Review by Pavel
Quality Delivery time Price Value -This module can work well with latest OpeWRT with MT7915 driver included in.
- One DR7915 module is detected as two independent MT7915E radios , one for 2,4GHZ 802.11bgnax and second for 5GHZ 802.11nacax
-booth radios work together at same time , so you have two independent networks managed by one module. We tested 40+ end clients connected to each network, so 100 clients total connect at same time and each end device can access high speed internet at same time.
- this is really great dual band WiFi 6 module !
