Pro Plus — build the complete wireless solution

524WiFi™ PRO+

Pro Plus brings our tuned product configuration, model-specific firmware selection and integration support into one professional wireless solution. For a moving client, the focus is the vehicle connection and transitions along its route; for a fixed access point, the focus is useful coverage and the mesh infrastructure that serves the working area. The hardware, antennas and software are selected as one deployment rather than treated as unrelated parts.

Start with the right radio architecture, plan power and Ethernet, and commission the supplied firmware for the actual network. Our support helps you match the configuration to the application and review the working route or mesh topology.

Signal Plus™ — tuned signal performance for your deployment

524WiFi™ Signal Plus™

Signal Plus™ is the signal optimization part of our tuned 524WiFi™ system. It brings antenna placement, polarization, feed losses, radio roles and channel planning together so the supplied RF hardware can serve the intended route or coverage area effectively. On a moving vehicle, orientation and nearby metalwork change along the route; on a fixed mesh node, antenna direction and link visibility define the useful RF path.

Choose the model-specific antenna layout and validate the complete installation under real traffic. Link coverage and application throughput depend on the site, operating channels, permitted RF power, client capabilities and the final configuration.

Build a flexible indoor mesh network

Use this access point as a fixed node in a professionally planned wireless installation. The three-radio layout lets you assign wireless resources to client service and inter-node communication according to the supplied firmware and the site plan. The 2.5GbE interface provides a fast wired connection for a gateway, switch or local network, while the Gigabit PoE interface supports practical power and network integration.

A complete indoor assembly for professional installations

Six antennas connect the three 2×2 radios: two RF paths per band at 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz. The current indoor assembly is supplied with six antennas.

The indoor enclosure brings the router platform and antenna assembly together for offices, warehouses, production areas and integration projects. Plan clearance around the antenna positions and the heatsink enclosure, place the unit where the intended links have useful RF visibility and provide a properly rated power source.

One wireless system: fixed mesh nodes and moving clients

The mesh access points stay in place and form the site infrastructure. A roaming client router travels with the vehicle or machine and connects its onboard Ethernet devices to that infrastructure. As the vehicle moves between coverage cells, the roaming configuration manages its change of connection. Mesh interconnection and client roaming are complementary network roles.

Choose the fixed nodes for the installation environment, then choose the moving client by its radio layout and the required route. Plan compatible firmware, authentication, channels and RF overlap across the complete system. An AGV or AMR is one example: the same networking role applies to other moving Ethernet-equipped platforms.

Manufacturer-tested mesh performance: 400 Mb/s across 10 hops

Build industrial mesh links for large working areas. The manufacturer reports sustained 400 Mb/s throughput across a 10-hop mesh chain on the DR5018S mesh platform, describing near-zero throughput attenuation along the tested chain. This result demonstrates the platform’s multi-hop networking potential for production halls, warehouses and logistics sites.

The figure is a manufacturer-reported test result, distinct from theoretical radio PHY rates. Achievable throughput in your installation follows the supplied firmware, radio and channel configuration, antenna system, RF conditions, traffic and topology. Plan the complete network with our Pro Plus and Signal Plus™ deployment support.

Theoretical PHY rates by band

2.4 GHzUp to 573 Mb/s theoretical PHY; 20/40 MHz channels
5 GHzUp to 2,402 Mb/s theoretical PHY; up to 160 MHz channels
6 GHzUp to 2,402 Mb/s theoretical PHY; up to 160 MHz channels

PHY rates describe the radio link signaling capability, rather than measured application throughput. They depend on channel width, spatial streams and client support. A mesh hop also shares airtime with other traffic on its assigned radio; evaluate end-to-end performance across the topology you will actually use.

Published theoretical PHY signaling rates for each radio. This graph shows the model’s radio resources; application throughput and roaming behavior are validated in the commissioned deployment.

Three independent 2×2 radios provide six RF paths: two for each radio. The current mesh assembly has six antennas.

Inside the industrial wireless platform

The Qualcomm IPQ5018 platform combines a dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor at 1.0 GHz with 512 MB DDR3L memory. The processor runs the network and management software, while the model-specific radios carry the wireless links. Select the complete assembly by its radio bands, Ethernet interfaces and firmware role: those details determine how it fits into the industrial network.

MU-MIMO and OFDMA: use airtime efficiently

Wi-Fi 6 radio technology provides MU-MIMO and OFDMA capabilities. MU-MIMO supports spatial scheduling for compatible clients; OFDMA divides channel resources into smaller allocations for supported traffic. Their practical benefit depends on the supplied firmware, peer capabilities, traffic mix and RF conditions. The two RF paths of each 2×2 radio belong to that radio; six antennas on a three-radio assembly do not make it a single six-stream radio.

Plan radio roles, mesh paths and the wired uplink together

The three independent 2×2 radios operate on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz. Plan the supported client and mesh-link roles in the supplied firmware so that inter-node traffic and moving-client coverage fit the site. A 2.5GbE interface provides a wired connection for the network design; the separate Gigabit PoE interface combines Ethernet connectivity with a compatible power feed.

Every wireless hop uses airtime. Plan node placement, channel widths, permitted channels and antenna alignment around the actual hall or work area, then assess the required hop count under simultaneous traffic. Use wired uplinks where the installation calls for them and validate alternate paths in the configured mesh. For the 6 GHz radio, choose operation permitted for the installation country and indoor or outdoor deployment.

Pro Plus and Signal Plus™ in the installation

Pro Plus brings the tuned configuration, firmware selection and integration guidance together. Signal Plus™ provides the signal optimization approach — the Signal Boost focus of the system — through the appropriate antenna layout, polarization, feed-loss control and channel planning. Evaluate the resulting RF path in the working environment with the supplied hardware and legal operating power.

The platform has a public OpenWrt mesh development project. Match any firmware change to the exact hardware revision and flash layout, and review the mesh or roaming feature set with our support before commissioning. The supplied model-specific configuration is the reference for the ordered assembly.

How the network fits together

The diagram explains equipment roles and connection paths. It is a planning illustration, not a tested deployment or a scale drawing. Use the wired gateway to connect the wireless mesh to the wider network, then choose radio roles and channels for each node.

Firmware and OpenWrt integration

The IPQ5018 platform has an OpenWrt-based mesh development project. The delivered mesh software and the public development source serve different purposes: use the firmware specified for the supplied hardware and feature set. Record the hardware revision, flash layout, antenna mapping, Ethernet assignment and current firmware version before planning an update.

Ask our technical support for the appropriate configuration instructions or a revision-matched firmware package. Keep an export of the working configuration and a recovery plan before flashing. Feature availability, including management interfaces and any separately licensed firmware tools, must be checked against the ordered software configuration. Product downloads and configuration guidance are supplied through 524WiFi.com™.

Installation and commissioning

  1. Define the role. Document whether the device is a fixed mesh node or an onboard roaming unit, the intended traffic, the country of operation and the required radio bands.
  2. Plan power and Ethernet. Check the supplied assembly label and power documentation. Use the specified compatible PoE injector/switch or DC supply; active and passive PoE require the correct equipment and wiring.
  3. Install the RF system. Connect each band to its intended antenna path, allow mechanical clearance, secure the feeds and check polarization and line of sight for directional links.
  4. Configure the network. Set management addresses, network segmentation, credentials, radio channels and the mesh or roaming profile. Keep a record of the final configuration for each node.
  5. Validate under real load. Test traffic in both directions, record link rates and packet loss and measure performance where the application operates. For mobile systems, repeat the checks during movement along the complete route.

Antenna placement and regional operation

Six antenna paths serving three 2×2 radios. Indoor enclosure with the supplied antenna assembly; external/internal antenna placement follows the actual delivered configuration.

Use antennas and feeds rated for the operating band and the installation environment. Cable loss, obstructions, reflections and device orientation influence the useful link budget. For a directional link, align both ends and verify the result using link statistics and traffic tests rather than assuming that a clear visual path is sufficient.

Configure 6 GHz only in operating modes permitted for the deployment country and installation. Match the regional radio profile to the indoor installation and the supplied firmware. Country requirements and RF power limits apply to the assembled system, including antenna gain.
